Stytch now supports Client ID Metadata Documents (CIMD), a new standard for securely sharing OAuth client metadata. CIMD helps apps automatically register, discover, and verify trusted clients, cutting down on manual configuration and setup time. In the case of Model Context Protocol (MCP), it means that every MCP client can now authenticate dynamically.

This standard improves interoperability and security across the OAuth ecosystem for faster and safer connections between apps, APIs, and identity providers. With CIMD, metadata like redirect URIs, scopes, and signing keys can be validated automatically through a single document, without relying on spreadsheets or manual config.

CIMD can be enabled via Stytch Connected Apps. If you’re already using this, you’ll now see an option to enable CIMD discovery and registration directly in your dashboard or Terraform modules.
